Jim Corbett National Park, established in 1936 as Hailey National Park, holds the distinction of being India's first national park. Spread across 1,318 sq km in the Nainital district, it's named after the legendary hunter-turned-conservationist Jim Corbett. The park is home to the Bengal tiger, Asian elephant, leopard, gharial, and over 650 species of birds. The diverse landscape includes dense sal forests, riverine belts, grasslands, and the Ramganga reservoir. Safari zones include Bijrani, Jhirna, Dhela, Durga Devi, and the premium Dhikala zone known for its vast grasslands and tiger sightings.
